It’s just ridiculous that this album came out 10 years ago. I can still vividly remember catching the video for “Hard to Explain” before school one day. I’d never heard anything like it before. I had my sister drive me to the mall after school to buy the CD. I don’t know where I got the money. It was probably the fourth or fifth real album I ever bought, but for some reason, the whole process was the most memorable. Defining album.
It’s really nice to hear such wonderful covers from modern musicians that still excite me in the same way the Strokes did in my pimpled youth. Thanks for this, really.
Boy, if this was on King Of Limbs instead of Feral, or just thrown in as another track.
I really like this song.
If Radiohead covers Only In Dreams, I’ll be a happy camper.
Odd Future will never top Back in Your Head.
It isn’t that she’s offended by him. It’s that everybody is celebrating his music and just sort of brushing off all the rape/anti gay/etc. stuff in the process.
You assume she hasn’t listened to Goblin – have you even read her piece?
Er, I guess he was *dealing* with them, I just mean like… no one attacked the guy. (I need an edit button D: )
Regardless of how I or anyone feels about Odd Future’s music, fuck that first video for not mentioning the nature of the cop’s injury, leaving it to the viewer to assume he was in some way hurt dealing with the fans or the group.
That’s downright slimy.
This is great. I Gotta Rokk and Def Surrounds Us are a return to form for Shadow.
I’m still not sure about tracks like I’ve Been Trying, but at least it has more of a DJ Shadow feel than say, This Time or Broken Levee Blues.
Well said. I love Yonkers, and there are golden little nuggets of wit dispersed throughout the album, but overall it’s nothing incredible. I admire the honestly and openness, but I can’t really sit through, what, 15 dark bummer tracks.
It’s sad to think they went from this

to suing each other.
Life of Leisure absolutely defined my last summer. Hope I get my hands on this in time for beach season.
While I wouldn’t go so far as to say Tyler’s the least interesting member of Odd Future, I kind of get what you’re saying. I totally love Yonkers, and this track’s good too, but it would be a bummer if the whole album is this type of thing.
You run with a strange crowd, sir.
some people could have bought early bird tickets.
bummer.
I really like The Butcher. I could easily see it fitting into The King of Limbs.
This is great. The party looks terrible though.
Points for having a hand saw as a wall hanging.
It’s out there.
I like it
Whoa, Amnesiac only has 3 “worthy” songs? I think think not, sir!
Heh. I remember trying to buy the $80 version of In Rainbows a few years back. My order didn’t go through, and at the time I was pissed about not getting the sweet collector’s edition.
I loved the album, but I was pretty happy the next month when I was able to buy groceries.
I’d like to think of myself as a rational Radiohead diehard. That may be an oxymoron, but let’s run with it. They’re my favorite band, but I don’t view them as being above criticism. Hail to the Thief could’ve lost a few songs, and The King Of Limbs could use a few more. I’ve never been a big fan of Climbing Up The Walls. And so on, and so forth.
I like the King of Limbs, quite a bit. I’ve listened to it quite a bit in the past month and half, and I think it’s had time to sink in. I’m sure a lot of critics are probably holding back criticisms and giving the album more time to grow on them than they would with a different band’s equally inaccessible album. And disappointment from fans is natural – I think it’s easily their worst album after Pablo Honey.
But Radiohead has a lot of great music to live up to. You view this as “people are critical, but they would be more critical if it weren’t Radiohead”, were I see instances of the opposite occurring. Holding The King of Limbs up to the rest of Radiohead’s catalog makes it look like a bit of a stinker. But looking at it out of context, it’s a very good album. Imagine if The King of Limbs was a new band’s first album. Would a 7 something from Pitchfork seem too high in that case? Again, I’m not a head in the sand kind of fan. I really could do without Feral. And the new Burial/Thom Yorke/Four Tet release does absolutely nothing for me. And now, more than ever, I’m sure they could potentially release a dud. Their next record could suck. But this one doesn’t.
This is the first Nardwuar interview I’ve ever seen. Naturally I just watched like 8 more on YouTube. Dude’s incredible. I think the N.E.R.D. one did the best job of showcasing his talents.
Also – Tyler’s voice sounds dark and sultry when he’s just talking. That’s awesome.
I still can’t really get into Skeletal Lamping (to me it sounds like 4 of Montreal albums mashed up with each other… no segment last long enough for me to get my hooks into), but I totally agree with people only looking to Hissing Fauna as of Montreal’s “good album”. I started listening to them when Satanic Panic came out, and I looovvve that album. Hissing Fauna is awesome, but things before it never even get a mention.

It’s fine if an artist isn’t blown away by someone else’s work, and it’s fine if they vocalize that.
Can we talk about how great it is that No Doubt is recording new stuff? And that they’re working with Major Lazer? I mean, Rock Steady was 10 years ago, for christ’s sake.
